Stabicad Update

prefab sets in Stabicad

Assemble and fit prefab sets with Stabicad

modelleren_prefab

Another new Stabicad update is available, and it's something very special for anyone who has anything to do with prefab or wants to do something with prefab in the future. As of Stabicad version 10.15, all the functionality required for assembling and fitting prefab sets is located under Mechanical as standard.

Anyone who has ever tried to create prefab sets in "plain Revit" knows that this is a time-consuming task. It is often claimed that prefab saves time in construction but that more time is actually needed in the preparation. We were asked by the market to develop a solution. We did this together with input and feedback from a group of pilot users, and the result is now available to everyone.

The newly developed functionality minimizes preparation time. This makes it easy for you to create prefab sets through selection, and the coding tool can be used to code the sets in your own desired way with standard or personalized codes. Prefab sheets can be generated automatically and tags are inserted automatically.

Workflow
The workflow changes by involving prefab early on in the process. It is important in this regard to already choose the brand of pipes in the first stage of the design process. After which, you quickly model systems containing the correct information.

Stage 1: download manufacturer-specific content
Once it is clear which manufacturer will be used, you download the required products via MEPcontent. This content is always monitored by the manufacturer and contains all the up-to-date information necessary for the (order) process, such as article numbers and prices.

Stage 2: model systems
You can then draw systems quickly with manufacturer-specific content, partly thanks to another new tool in the software: Stabicad Autorouting. With this function, you draw using specific systems in which the properties adjust to the measurements you choose. So if you adjust the diameter in your Revit model, the article number will automatically change accordingly. Afterwards, you can make the prefab sets with multiple prefab elements.

Stage 3: code and visualize prefab sets
You assign codes to your prefab sets using the coding tool. We have learned in practice that every company, project, or user has their own coding style. It's therefore possible to configure the coding yourself. Of course, it is also possible to use standard coding. You visualize the sets using the "Create plans" function in the palette.

Stage 4: create sheets
Using the "Manage prefabricated sheets" function, you create several prefab sheets simultaneously at the push of a button. Material lists are also created in one go. You can also insert multiple prefab sets on one sheet and choose your own layout. Tags are automatically inserted on the sheets.

Getting started
You need at least Stabicad version 10.15 in order to use this new functionality. You can download this using "My Downloads" in the customer portal. You will see that the new Prefab palette has been added to the Palette Center. A detailed description of all the new functions can be found in Online Help.

Additional module for prefab factories
In addition to the standard functions that have been made available in Stabicad 10.15, there is also a Prefab module that is primarily intended for prefab factories. The module makes it possible, among other things, to make prefab sets using model lines. This means that you can draw lines around the elements that have to be in a set. Elements that are traversed by such a line will be split. The node resolver reconnects the resulting node. Prefab sheets that list the dimensions as well as the tag can also be generated. The prefab module also includes the functionality to report the length of straight and/or flexible pipes, including welding losses, extra length, and final operations. Finally, modeling with welding gains or loss is possible if you purchase the entire prefab module. For more information about this module, please contact verkoop@stabiplan.com.
